CII Diploma in Financial Planning
What is the purpose of this Diploma?
The CII Diploma in Financial Planning is a RQF level 4 qualification. The qualification meets the FCA requirements for those looking to provide advice on retail investment products or for those working in a supporting or technical role who wish to develop their technical knowledge and understanding of the financial planning process.
There can be some confusion over whether you should be looking to achieve the CII Diploma in Financial Planning or the Regulated Diploma in Financial Planning. The CII Diploma in Financial Planning is more suitable if you hold other exam passes that may count towards completion of this qualification. However, you may also need to complete some gap fill activities to meet the FCA exam requirements. If you are in doubt, please call the CII directly to discuss your existing qualifications and which route would be best for you.
If you are a PFS member you can use the designation DipPFS upon completion of this qualification.
What do I need to do to achieve this Diploma?
To achieve the CII Diploma in Financial Planning you must gain 140 credits with at least 80 at Diploma level and a maximum of 30 at Advanced Diploma level.
As there are so many exams available depending upon your individual circumstances, we strongly advise you to contact the CII to establish which exams you need to pass and which are not available to you. It may be beneficial for you to sit the Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning instead.
